Increasing bottle
Dumb question: how do you increase the amount you feed DC? DS eats about 4 ounces every 3 hours and he's 8 months old! Sometimes he will take 5 ounces but that's on a rare occasion. He is still waking up during the night for 2 feedings and I'm starting to think its out of habit. He's also a horrible napper. I've tired increasing his bottles to 6 ounces but he never finishes it. Can someone please explain how this should be accomplished; I feel helpless.

Increasing bottle
Are you feeding him food?
During the day i would follow my dd cue and she drank the same in oz as your son but by 8 months she was eating so she didnt need a bottle every 3 hours.
Her bedtime bottle i started making bigger about 6-7 oz initially and increased over time.
What nipple flow is he on? Does he seem comfortable with it? Is it taking him too long to finish like 20-30 min? Does he fuss or seem annoyed? I also changed my dd nipple flow to medium when he oz increased because i noticed she was doing all the above. And that helped her to finsh more especially at night
Eta: do you mean 8 weeks?

DS has been on solids since 6 months. The nipple flow is on fast since he was 4 months because he would get annoyed that the milk could not come out fast enough. He is not fussy when he eats. He actually will finish the 4 ounces in less than 5 minutes but if I put more ounces in the bottle he will always leave it. Could it be that he's just a hungry baby? Maybe I'm not feeding enough solids?
7 am -4 ounce bottle Goes back to sleep 10 am - 3 ounces of veggie and 2 ounces of fruit 11:30 - 4 ounce bottle Nap for an hour 2 pm - 2 ounce veggie and 3 ounce fruit 3:30 pm - 4 ounce bottle Nap for about 1 hour 6:30 pm - 3 ounce veggie 3 ounce fruit 8:30 pm - 4 ounce bottle 11:30 pm - 4 ounce bottle ( I try to top him off but he still gets up) 2 am - 3 ounce bottle 5 am - 4 ounce bottle (During the night he falls back to sleep after every bottle)

Re: Increasing bottle
dd is 9 months.
i think you need him on table food to fill him up more
dds schedule is about this times vary per day
wakeup (5/5:30) 7 oz bottle
7:30/8 breakfast, cheerios, pancakes waffles
nap 9-11 ish
wakeup 6 oz bottle
1 ish lunch, yogurt, cheese,
nap 2-4ish
wakeup 6 oz
5:30/6 dinner, chicken nuggets, meatballs, pasta
7:00 7 oz bedtime
dd is not sleeping through the night
, but she doesn't eat. I'm working on it lol, and also the working on the morning wakeup time but I don't think I change that. No more purees for us only table food and around 25 oz of formula

Maybe you are right, I haven't started him on table food yet. If you don't mind me asking, what guide did you use? How do you know what you can/cannot feed DC? I feel so lost with this!

Re: Increasing bottle
That's A LOT of bottles. I agree with starting table foods that will keep him full longer. And after you can get enough food into him during the day, you may have to CIO overnight because the night waking is probably out of habit.

Re: Increasing bottle
well I kinda just go with it and from I did with dd1.
When I have to question something I go to
Wholesomebabyfoods.com. Its a great resource and will help you out. All my doc said was not nuts and honey until after 1 yr. I was thinking about strawberries so i looked it up and decided to wait a bit.
Even if he has no teeth, they can still chew. So as long as it's cut up tiny he shouldn't have a problem. DD feeds herself. i cut it up and put it on her high chair.
Blueberries I cut into 4's. if they are small in half. Thats how tiny I go. Chicken nuggets the same. I cut them really small.

go to wholesomebabyfood.com (or google it Im pretty sure that's the site.
They have a everything broken down by type of food, then they will tell you the age to range to feed it, nutritional value and recipes as well to try.
Yea I would def try more food. And it does seem like he wants a bottle as a soother, try diluting with some water until its all water and eventually he wont find the water that interesting and should stop waking for the night bottles.

Increasing bottle
My daughter is 7 months old and up until recently only took 4 oz every 3 hours. And still wakes up at 3am to eat. I always fed on demand, but now that shes eating purées I needed more structure. A friend suggested that I stretch her to eating every four hours to see if she would take more. And she did (6oz). She still isn't consistent though. But she never cries for a bottle. As far as the nighttime bottle goes try reducing ounces gradually to wean him on one of the feelings. Also someone suggested to me giving her cereal before she goes to bed. We started doing that and it worked- she slept from 930-6. But then she got sick and everything went out the window. I know how roughy the overnights can be, but try not to put so much pressure on the # of oz.

Re: Increasing bottle
DD is 6 1/2 months. She only drinks 4-5 oz and still eats every 2 hours. She also has cereal and fruit am and cereal and veggie pm. I don't mind it at all because she is still taking in enough and sleeps 12 hours at night. Doc said I could try to stretch her slowly by making her wait to eat. Start off 15 min then 30 etc until she is at 3 hours and then she will drink more but I am not messing with what I got going right now. Its hard leaving the house but still worth the sleep.
And as far as starting solids, my doc said start with one single grain cereal. After about a week try another. And then veggies and fruits one at a time each week. This way if there is an alergy it is clear which food did it. Start with breakfast and dinner and now at her 6 1/2 month check up, he said I can start giving her lunch as well.
