Income Supplements for SAHM's

Hi there,

So my husband and I have officially decided that I will stay home after baby #2 arrives in September. I am on the hunt for ways to contribute financially since things will be tight with a capital T that is so scary I can't even bare to look at it right now.

I already have a Photography Business that I've always done on the side of my full time job but the bookings can be sporadic and hard to rely on.

Do any SAHM's have an advice on how to earn some extra ca$h while staying home?

Many thanks!

What kind of work do you do now? Depending on your field, can you set up some kind of contract or consulting work through your current company or in your industry?

Right now I do marketing and graphic design. I'm trying to explore outlets to do freelance work for sure.

How about private tutoring based on your college degree expertise?
Also, you can solicit local libraries to see if you can do one of those 1 or 2 hour workshops for patrons on marketing or graphic design; they pay for those.

I do graphic design as well and I'm a SAHM for the last year. I also used to work in marketing for an Architectural firm.

I'd say get out there more with your photography business. Run specials, mini sessions for the seasons and holidays, anything to get your name more recognized. FB is great for that. I found my current photographer bc I loved my friend's pictures. Not only is she great, but she's reasonable and I'll be calling her for more events in the future.

One thing I do is work for a printer we used to work with at my old firm. I happened to be talking to him and said, "Hey, if you ever need work done, let me know." He was ecstatic bc their current person was flaking on them, so now I'm their go-to girl for all their projects. I complete anywhere from 5-8 jobs/month for them, which is a nice supplement to our income. I also make sure I stay in touch with people who I used to work with in the industry and I have gotten work from them as well.

Since you already have a side photography business I would work with that. Make sure you have a good facebook page, instagram, and offer up some good sale packages to increase your business. If your pricing is right and your work is good you will get more referrals.

I'm already doing that. There are THOUSANDS of photographers on Long Island, it's hard to compete. I just started to run a few paid campaigns to hopefully drum up some business, since word of mouth referrals was always my best client source.

For a few years I watched 1 or 2 kids at a time in my home along with my own kids. It was great money, super flexible, I was with my kids all day, and they had kids close in age to play with. It was a perfect!
