Re: including salary requirements in cover letter

I state my current salary, and then say something like "but I am flexible given the right opportunity and I understand that the nature of this position may require such flexibility" etc. Something like that. I heard that you should never put your salary in a cover letter, but given that anyone can figure out my salary with a 10-second internet search I really see no reason why not to. Or maybe that is just the nature of my profession.

I say something similar. I state salary in last position and say that future salary requirements are negotiable based on position responsibilities and total benefits offered.

I have read that since resumes and cover letter get read by lover level people when they come in you should never put in salary req.....you can always write that they are personal and can be discussed at first meeting.
