I'm very disturbed and don't know what to do
DH is replacing the sink and vanity that we got through our HGTV bathroom makeover.
So, I went on Craigslist over the weekend and posted an Ad to sell the one they provided. The Ad says the neighborhood I live in because I'll only accept local pick-up.
Only one person emailed me so far, and they asked for dimensions. I emailed them back, through my personal account that is attached to my website, which says my full name. If you go to the website, you'll see pics of me, hubby, and Alex, and hubby's name is on there as well (we have different last names - I hyphenate).
Our phone number at our house is listed under hubby's name.
So, last night, at 3am, someone called the house. Hubby picked up the phone and they said they were calling about the "internet ad", and asked if they woke him up. He hung up on them.
So, my issue is, if it's random, ok, but if they were really calling about the craigslist Ad, how did they get our number? The only thing I can think of is they looked at the website, googled DH's name to get our phone number, and in which case, they also have our address.
I star 69'd the call and have the number - it's a local cell phone, and that's about all I know.
Am I freaking out unnecessarily, and if not, what exactly should I do at this point?

Well to ease your worries, just be polite to them if they call back. (so it doesnt turn into a fight if you get nasty).
and from now on, create a very generic discreet account for this type of stuff.
no real names, no info at all.
What an idiot calling at that time.
If anything, star 69 again today, and say nicely that youre looking to see what they were calling about. so you can put closure on this persons contact with you, kwim?

Beth - do you have your number listed??? If so I would immediately call the phone company and UNlist it - or at least take your address off the listing!

Yeah, it's listed, but because of issues with an ex-stalker, my cell phone number is private, and under my husband's name. The only number that IS listed is our home number, and it's only listed under DH's name, without his first name. So it's his first initial and last name. I just can't even fathom how someone obtained the number.
I'm going to have DH call the phone company today and list our number and address as private, and create a hotmail account for these kind of things. I just wasn't thinking when I replied to the email - I know my email address isnt listed in the Ad, but I just didn't realize that when I replied, duh, it would show up. I feel like a moron, and I'm rather disturbed that someone went through all those steps to actually OBTAIN the number instead of just emailing me back.

Its probably nothing, but that would definitely creep me out too! Especially calling at 3am. I would unlist your number ASAP!

I'm going to do that today. DH isn't worried, he thinks it was just a wrong number, and coincidentally they were asking about an internet ad. Too random for me, but in the meantime, I'm going to call the phone company today to unlist our number. It's a good idea anyway considering my history with the ex-stalker.
