Im so mad and scared right now!!!
I've had a cuticle infection in my toe for almost 2 weeks. I tried taking care of it but it won't go away. I finally went to the dr yesterday morning. The NP prescribes me cefalex. I am allergic to Penacillan. She tells me 10% of people who are allergic to P will be allergic to this but chances are youll be fine. Yeah, well, this morning I woke up with a rash all over my stomach. I am FREAKING out. I am only 5w2d so I am hoping I don't even share a bloodstream with the baby yet but can an allergic reaction to an antibiotic have an adverse reaction to the baby?
I am so upset that she even took that chance with me! 
Now she called me in a Z-pac and told me to wait until the rash is gone to start it but to see a podiatrist.
It's not THAT bad of an infection, I wish my OB would've just seen me but he said go to PCP. Why now? Why a tow infection when I'm pregnant?!?!?!

 It's still really early and you don't share a bloodstream until 6w I believe so I think you're ok. I can't believe your Dr didn't just give you the Z-Pack from day one. I'm allergic to penicillan too and it's such a serious allergy for most people that I can't understand why they would take a risk of giving you a similar medication that could cause a reaction. Try not to stress too much, but call the OB just to get some peace of mind.

During my first pregnancy, I had a reaction to antibiotics and my DS is totally fine! Apparently I'm allergic to both pennicillin and z pack...

the problem with keflex and penicillin is tehy used to be made inthe same factory before proper cleaning practices were put into place. Many people with allergies to one would notice that they would also get a reaction to theother. it has much decreased since then. Keflex is one of the best meds for skin infections. Z packs are so overly used, you always worry about resistance. dont worry, take it easy. Keep the area clean and dry, and as much as you can in the air.

Thanks everyone. The rash seems to be better today so I'll probably start the z-pac tomorrow.
I'm the type who doesn't even like to take Tylenol when I'm NOT pregnant so this is soooo frustrating
