Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

I made a "wish list" ahead of time on BRU with important things I knew I needed. It got extremely overwhelming once we were inside. At least with my list, we had a better idea of what direction to go in.. Find me on BRU- jot down what you see on there that you need.. That's what I did- I copied & took ideas from my friend's registries

DONT REGISTER FOR CLOTHES!!!

everyone will get clothes!! regardless of whether theyre on the registry or not! We did originally register for some onsies and side-snap T's but got almost nothing that we actually registered for.

also, regardless of the price - if you like it, add it! Chat Icon

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

I had been looking online for a few weeks before i registered and i also had been highlighting things on my baby bargain book. I pretty much knew the big items i wanted to register for.

Its the little things that are overwhelming. Like....how many pairs of sheets, sheet savers, bottles, nipples, breast feeding accessories, towels, pacifiers....yadda yadda....i just registered for those things online.

I'm probably still missing things....i'm waiting for my friend who is a mommy to take a look. I'm sure i also registered for stuff i don't need.

If you are going with your HD....keep an eye on him. When i checked my registery online.....he had registered for 1000 toys! I wanted to kill him!

Good luck....and have fun. Ohh....make sure you bring water and maybe a 100 calorie snack or something. The two-three times i went to BBB and BRU.....i felt lightheaded and dizzy towards the end.

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

do it in more than one trip. i was so overwhelmed...we registered for the big stuff first..stroller, furniture (which we wound up removing later and buying from JCP), pack n play etc.

then go back and do the little things aisle by aisle. I was much more calmer and together when we went back the 2nd time.

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

it was overwhelming for me so we broke it into sections...the first night I registered for all the major stuff...highchair, swing, carseat, bassinet, stroller, etc. We pretty much stuck to the must-haves. As soon as I got home I checked teh registry online and crossed off everything I got on the checklist they give you when you register. This helped me the next time I went bc i knew exactly what I had to get and where I had to go in teh store (bc they break it donw by section) Good luck!

this would have been my advice too. Definately dont try to get it all done in one trip.

I did furniture, mattress and bedding one day.

Another day we did BBB in the morning, had lunch and then went to BRU. I registered for the big things and the smaller things I added online.

It is overwhelming so breaking it up was a good idea. Also, the BBB in Westbury was freezing so bring a sweater. My MIL and I were there the other day and couldnt wait to get out of there b/c we were so cold.

Have fun!

hehehe, I will go with you I LOVED doing my registry :)
My advise, I scanned everything I may want, Two or 3 kinds of everything and then went on BRU.com and checked out the product reviews and then slimmed down my registry to Just what I really needed :) You can check out strollers on Youtube, and babygizmo.com too. Good Luck and have fun :)

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

Don't go wild and scan TOO many things. I put too much on my registry and it backfired on me- I wound up not getting a lot of necessary items.

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

I agree with the no clothes.

Also, don't put alot of toys on your registry. People will generally buy you toys and stuff when the baby is born.

Don't feel overwhelmed, because it really can be. Take your time and if you need to go back, go back.

Good luck

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

Eat before you go b/c it is exhausting and you need your strength. Like pp maybe break it up. Also talk to sales people if scanner says low inventory...they might be getting more in just w/ different name.

Be careful about putting too much on....it gives too many options and you won't get the important stuff.

Don't go crazy with bottles b/c you may need to change brands to find the right one for your baby.....mb one starter set.

Sheet Savers ++++

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

don't register for bibs, burp cloths and pacifiers (or if you do LIMIT how many you register for). We received 48 bibs at my baby shower and I don't know how many pacifiers...more than I'll ever use!

ETA: Don't try to register for everything in one shot; it's overwhelming and exhausting!

Re: I'm registering tomorrow... Any helpful advice

things I didn't need to register for b/c I received enough for a small village as gifts (and returned many):
clothes
bibs
burp cloths
towels
wash cloths
receiving blankets
toys
books (never too many but you don't need to register for them...i didn't return those)

didn't use lap pads
cloth diapers are amazing!
you can always return unused bottles/nipples if you have a receipt-so get the stage 2 and 3 nipples to be prepared
get some bowls, cups, spoons, forks, divided dishes, etc.-you need them before you know it
no-throw tethers are fabulous
