I'm just scratching my head.

A "friend" of mine literally gave birth less than 8 hours ago and she is already blogging about the experience. She blogged when she was leaving the house in labor and she blogged as soon as she gave birth to give the name, weight and a picture. I've never given birth, but I'm thinking that the last thing I would be doing is blogging. Especially seeing as she had to have an emergency c-section. Anyone?Chat Icon

Re: I'm just scratching my head.

years ago i would be shocked by that--but honestly in this day and age, we are an instant update/gratification society with the internet. She probably brought a laptop with her to the hospital and is using their wi-fi to update. i imagine she must have gotten bored in the hospital after a few hours -- and figured...why not post an update about it for family & friends?

i'm not sure if i would do the same--but hey...more power to her!

she must have a blackberry.

I had an emergency C section... Wasn't up to blogging by 8 hours later because it would have been the middle of the night, but aside from not being able to move my legs, I was fine...

Re: I'm just scratching my head.

interesting.

all i wanted to do after giving birth the the greatest gift God ever gave me was to SLEEP! 15.5 hours of labor will wipe you out.

oh well, as long as everyone is happy and healthy. i guess it's her way of communicating with loved ones. i had "radio mom", she called everyone while i was trying to sleep.

hope mom and baby are doing well

It probably has to do with how much blogging is a part of people's lives these days...

Re: I'm just scratching my head.

Honestly, after my c/s, only thing I waned to do was sleep. I also had an emergency c/s. But our families were at the hospital, so they knew right away. My mom and MIL spread the word that day.

Don't see the big deal. Does she have family or a lot of friends out of state? Maybe that is easier for her to do rather than call everyone?

Re: I'm just scratching my head.

Also, it's a moment that she won't have again. (Even with another DC, the moment will be different). For her, it's an important part of being a mother, and enjoying her new DC. Months from now, she may forget some of the minutia of the moment, but by blogging about it, she has those details forever.

No, she doesn't. She's addicted to blogging. She's the type of person who blogs when she takes a sh*t. (sorry for the crassness. Chat Icon ) I put the "" around "Friend" because we used to be close but have since had a falling out. Therefore, I'm a tad judgmental. Chat Icon A part of me wishes I didn't even know she had the baby, but with her blog (and the updates on her Facebook), several mutual friends have e-mailed me re: this.

Re: I'm just scratching my head.

Personally I would get up pics and info asap for family but I wouldn't go into great detail until a few days after resting, getting used to the whole baby thing. Then again I never had a kid and I have no clue how I would be reacting.

I guess it is a second nature thing for her.

I appreciate your honesty... You might be a little biased because of this.. Nothing wrong with that.

Re: I'm just scratching my head.

I sent out a mass text message about two hours after my c-section. That took all of my energy.
