Im gonna need Advice RE: Swaddling
Im scared.
Noah is starting to show signs of not wanting to be swaddled rys to get his arms out at night, while asleep fusses to try to "free" his arms etc.
This is new
BUT
I know he is gonna need to be trainsitioned...I also want to transition to the crib but one step at a time.
any advice how to start doing this?
Should I just go cold turkey?
I have tried not using it for naps and he simply wont stop moving and wakes himself up.
Im scared this is gonna ruin his sleeping, which has been great for months now.
TIA!

Re: Im gonna need Advice RE: Swaddling
you could try swaddling with his arms out or legs out....that's what we did...DS liked his legs out, so we did that for a short time, but then the blanket started riding up as he wiggled.
One night, I just put him down without anything. It takes some time, but they get used to it. He sleeps in feetie sleep n plays now

My advice is to find a night where you have nothing going on the next day and go cold turkey.

Re: Im gonna need Advice RE: Swaddling
we've been swaddling both dc with their arms out for a while now. both like to suck their hands and would fight to get their hands free.
it's been working. hope i didn't jinx it!!
also, i haven't used the swaddle for naps for a real long time, probably since dh went back to work, because it was just one more thing i didn't have a free hand for. and they did fine with the naps, well when they took them.

Re: Im gonna need Advice RE: Swaddling
We just removed DS's swaddle for the first time on Sat. We put him in a sleep sack instead. The first night he was up every hour. The 2nd night he was back to normal sleep pattern of 2 night wakens for feeding and then another wake up at 6:30 when I bring him into bed with me. Last night was a little worse he woke up 3 times, but not too bad.

ITA. Thats what we did. It was a little hard the first night- but she was back to sleeping like she was by the second night.

DS never liked being swaddled....we just place a small blanket on his legs only and let him sleep. I have not transitioned yet to the crib though...
