I'm going through some old papers
and found letters from my daughter when she was about 10 yrs old. So cute and innocent.
One letter was to Santa:
"The big candy cane is for you and the little one is for you elf. Please eat this food I put out for you. I hope I get a lot of gifts from you even thought I know you are fake" 
And of course I love all the "you're the best mom in the whole world letters"
Ah, they grow up so fast

I know the feeling...... after a comment today ... i look to young to have a daughter who is going to be 12 and the girl who was also there was 21 and the guy said she looked older... not imo... plus i just also found kryssy's teddy from the misfit land of toys that Late dh and i left her a note from "santa" and washed it for her and she was soooo happy to see it.... ok i am rambling
