I'm dying here!
So, there's this townhome around the block from our apartment that I kind of like - not the nicest in the little block, but the neighborhood is cute, and it's in a great location. We're only in the very early stages of looking to buy (earliest would be next summer, but we probably really have to wait a year after that).
However, with the market dropping, my interest is being piqued...
But, I digress. I found a virtual tour of the townhome online... and oh my. While the place looks like it's in decent shape, it likely hasn't been redeorated since about 1985.
Pay special attention to the basement bathroom - it's a gem.

Is that really the price? Seems even higher than the prices here in NY! I thought VA was cheaper.
Some of the rooms look great... others... definetly need the work!!

northern VA (metro DC area) is just as expensive as LI.
don't worry, you'll find something! I feel for you - the places I have been looking at are

WOW! I am also shocked at the price
my sister lives outside of richmond - and its waaaayyyy cheaper there than it is in northern VA. its amazing at the price decrease! you can get a new construction victorian home for $400K there. drive two hours north, its a whole different story!

the place doesn't look bad. I would take off wallpaper and paint but still in good shape.

It was originally $442 They just lowered the price.
It looks like it's in good enough shape, I'd just want to paint, tear off the wall paper, and probably get some new carpeting.
The dog boarder was horrible though!

This whole area is insane. They just did a list of the 10 richest counties... and 5 of them are around the DC area (#1 being right next to the county i'm in, and #2 being the county I'm in).
Where that wealth is, I'm not sure, cuz it certainly isn't in my pocket!
The thing with down here is, there isn't really any area that I know of where you can find a single family home for less than $500K
most are $600k+... though the market is dropping.
