I'm back with a question.
Not for me. .not yet anyway.. But my SIL is dealing with this idiot doctor (for more reasons than I care to go into right now) . She is in the process of switching to a new OB (her insurance won't cover an RE so she wants to see what is going on before she makes the choice to pay out of pocket or not).
She got CD3 tests done. all fine.
CD 21 testing showed a progesterone of 9. She got a positive surge on her OPK's. Doctor tells her she is probably not ovulating based on the proges. #. He wants her to come in for a sono to check for cysts and to have her Dh do a SA. And he wants to start her on clomid. (Don't get me started on that. I feel like I need to warn her about the dangers of clomid without proper monitoring... especially since she has already decided this doctor is an idiot. She has been telling him for months that she has been trying for a year.. is over 30 and has a strong family history of IF! He tells her to relax. SO she insisted on the bloodwork and he allowed it but wan't happy. Now he wants to stick her on Clomid and I don't trust him to monitor her correctly!)
Now, I am trying to remember all that I learned when I dealt with my IF and I can't for the life of me remember if a low progesterone number meant that you didn't ovulate??? I thought it just meant you had low progesterone and needed to be on PIO or suppositories from O until AF???
Am I wrong? Please help me remember.
TIA

Re: I'm back with a question.
my progesterone at 7dpo was an 8 and i ovulated but was put on progesterone suppositories right way just in case i was pregnanat (I winded up pregnanat that cycle) Did she know if she definitely ovulated on cd 14? If she didnt then her cd 21 progesterone results really arent accurate. They check 7 days after u ovulate to check ur progesterone. The drs are basing cd 21 on a 28 day cycle. I had my progesterone checked 7dpo which was cd 28 bc i had long cycles.
I agree with u about clomid and not being monitered. Reg obs hand them out like candy. My first ob gave them to me as well and i was never monitored. After that cycle i switched to a RE right away.
Honestly, if shes trying for over a year, is over 30 and has a family history of IF then she should really get checked by a dr who specializes in if issues.
