I'm a clutz! What do I do?
My foot fell asleep last night, and I tried to walk on it, and twisted my ankle. 5 years ago, I broke a bone in my foot the exact same way. It's only a little swollen and only hurts when I walk on it so I am inclined to think its not broken - but I made that mistake the last time and walked on a broken foot for 3 days.
I'm 12.5 weeks along, so I don't if there's anything that can even be done. I'm afraid to have an x-ray taken, but how else could I find out if anything is wrong? Should I go to the ER or try to get an appt. with an orthopedist?

I believe that you can have an x-ray taken while pregnant with proper protection. However if you are concerned, I'd call/see your doctor as they can maybe feel and manipulate to check for a broken bone and take the x-ray potential from there.
Feel better and try to stay off it as much as you can.
ETA: JMO... I'd see your regular dr. first (call your ob and regular and see what they say) before going to the ER. With the whole swine flu thing (among everything else), they advise people not to go sit in the ER unless it's an absolute emergency.

Re: I'm a clutz! What do I do?
what does your OB say? I know there is a Mommy on here (expecting soon again) that I believe broke both of her ankles or something like that with her first pregnancy. I'll see if I can do a search for you and find it
Here is her link
Feel better!

Re: I'm a clutz! What do I do?
Thank you! Now I don't feel so bad. I was concerned about going to the ER because of sick people, too.
Guess I'm off to call the OB.
Thanks again.

Definitely follow up esp. since you hurt it before. I just broke my ankle the exact smae way (well 4 weeks ago) - stepped on it while it was asleep - its awful. I hope you feel better. Even if they can't do xrays, maybe they can at least wrap it to stabilize it for healing.
