IL vent...
well, its more me whining- LOL they moved this summer and are now 4 hours away in PA. so, when they come to visit they now have to stay at our house. i HATE it!! i grew up with all my family so close together that we never had to stay over or anything... and its just annoying! i hate feeling like i have to come up with really great meals ( lunch AND dinner) for 4 days while they're here, and i hate feeling like i have to clean up after them so the house looks good while they're here. its also a unique situation. FIL is a pilot for united, so he only works one week a month, and MIL doesn't work. so they have ALL the time in the world to do everything they need to. and they REALLY done get that dh and i work all week and don't really feel like spending the weekend working our butts off. every time they come, they want to "help us" do some kind of project on the house, or MIL will go outside and just start raking or weeding the garden. shes doing it to be nice, and i appreicate it... but i feel like i have to be out there with her, when i really just want to spend my weekends vegging on here or watching movies on TV! i know i'm being whiny, but its just annoynig and i can't wait for it to be over!

Re: IL vent...
If my MIL wanted to go out an rake my leaves, I'd say knock yourself out. I'm sure there are other things that you could be doing inside to "occupy" yourself.

So then your problems are solved. If you could get her to cook, then it would be even better.

I totally feel your pain. I also sometimes get the feeling that my MIL offers to do these chores b/c she doesn't think that I'd ever think to do them myself. The way they act at our home would make you think their home is freakin' perfect.

thats how i feel sometimes, too! its almost like she doesn't think i'm a good enough "housekeeper" well, we would all have immaculate houses if we didn't have to work and had no kids at home anymore!!
