If you're babymooning...
Are you staying in the US? DH and I are thinking about the Caribbean in December, but I worry about the quality of the hospitals there (I haven't looked into this, so they may be excellent) and if something happens I want to feel secure in the care I'm getting. Thoughts? Am I totally off?

Re: If you're babymooning...
I really wanted to babymoon, but it looks like we just aren't going to have time. I was thinking about the caribbean, but ours would be during hurricane season. The quality of hospitals did also concern me. How far along will you be? I'm sure I would have been fine, but I'm a worry-wort. My other idea was Vegas. I've been there twice, DH has never been and I thought it was a good place for a babymoon since it's more an adult vacation than a kids place and I'm not sure if I would take my kids there.

We went to the Bahamas when I was about 18 weeks PG ... I felt like the island wasn't too remote in case anything happened while I was away, and it was a very short plane ride away from Florida if I needed to get back to the US for medical attention, etc..

DH and I babymooned in Aruba when I was 27 weeks. The doctor was very pleased we chose Aruba since they have very good medical facilities there. She also liked the fact that everyone speaks english.

Re: If you're babymooning...
We cruised out of NY when I was 23 weeks. DH was also concerned about traveling to other coutries, he felt better that we were on an American ship. I personally didn't worry either way. Not to sound morbid, but if I needed a Dr. at that point, there was really nothing they could have done anyway, so I figured why make myself crazy. The ost they could have done was put me on bedrest and I can lay around anywhere.

It wasn't a problem for me, or my dr. I had an easy pregnancy so we didn't foresee any issues.
My dr gave me a copy of my records to bring with me just in case, but I was much further along than you.
I wouldn't worry at 10 weeks.

That's good to know- my SIL and brother love Aruba. I'll be about 22 weeks (I think) over the X-mas break, which is really the only time we'll have to go. I'm also asthmatic, and while I've been ok so far, I have read that asthmatic women have trouble starting at about 20 weeks. So I'd want to be confident that there would be good medical care available if needed.

Re: If you're babymooning...
I'm assuming babymooning means going to your honeymoon pregnant?
If thats the case, when I fly to Thailand for our 15 day tour, i will be around 8 weeks pregnant, and 10 weeks when I return....
Obviously this wasnt planned

A babymoon is just a nice trip you take before the baby comes. Most of us have already been on our HMs. This is just a trip for you and DH, since it may be the last one for a while.

OOOhhhhhh - I read that really the best time to do this is in your 3rd trimester, right?

The "best" time is actually during your 2nd tri-mester; it's when you feel the best. You aren't that big yet and the morning sickness and exhaustion "should" have passed.
