If your ped checked DC in the hospital..

Were you billed extra?

Twin 1 was in nicu and under care of nicu dr.
Twin 2 was in the regular nursery so our ped could check her. They checked her all 4 days I was there and billed for each time. I know there are Drs in the nursery who check and they did check her also (another bill from hospital!). When I listed a ped on my intake I figured they checked once and thats it.

All the bills are rolling in now! Oy!

I'm pretty sure I was billed separately for both the hospital's resident dr and my ped. So two exams per day.

Hundreds of dollars billed out for what amounted to maybe 7 minutes worth of exams by the hospitals doctors.

No we didn't get any bills for that.
I am sure he billed my insurance though... I am thinking my plan covered that with no copay since I didn't get any bills

Depends on the hospital. We were at stony brook, so the resident who checked on my DS was covered under their billing and we didn't get a seperate bill. We did get the ped bill for every time she was there, but it wasn't actually a bill, because it's considered a "well visit" and there shouldn't be a co-pay.

Our ped didn't check the boys (sicne they didn't have rights there - even though one from our practice works there) but, the hospital ped did. We got a bill for DS 1 each time that the hospital ped came into our room to check him (2x).

For DS 2 - I received a bill in the beginning but, once I sent them my insurance info, I never heard from them again (even though the payment from my insurance company came directly to me).

I did not receive a separate bill from my ped and he came four out of five days because DS had low blood sugar and was jautice.

The only bills that I got in the mail after giving birth was for the newborn hearing test(they didn't bill the insurance), my inpatient copayment, and private room bill.

Insurance got billed for each day the ped. came ( I believe it was 3 times).

No, we weren't billed for any of that. When I had my DD our insurance charged us one co-pay of $20 for my first OB visit and a $500 hospital co-pay and after that, everything was covered and we never saw another bill from pregnancy through delivery. It was all covered.

I was billed for 2 days from a dr. I had never heard of. Meanwhile my ped had checked dd each day. I told my ped and she said no way should another dr have seen dd other than right after she was born. I called the office of the dr I had never heard of and told them what my ped said and I've never seen another bill.

I owed my dr. under 100 for the hospital visits.

So far I haven't received a separate bill. I just received a $25 copay bill for my whole stay at the hospital. And he came both days that I was in there to check on her.

I just want to add I picked my Ped beforehand and the person who I was using as her ped came to the hospital to see her. He was affiliated with the hospital.

Oddly, I got a bill from the hospital for the twin in regular nursery for MY ins. They paid some but the girls have DHs ins. and the hospital put it through DHs too. I wonder if it got covered. I havent gottan another bill. I should see if I can have my Dr put through my ins too. I think they did put through DH since its an odd #. Its not like a $20 copy. Its like $77.42. And I kinda feel like they should have told me they would see her each day and I shouldnt have 2 drs seeing her each day.

If you told the hospital your own PED was coming to check on the girls they should not be billing you for the hospital PED. That is why they ask you if you have your own PED already. I would call the hospital and fight that. Also call your insurance company and let them know too.

My insurance was billed but I was not charged a copayment. Maybe they are considered well-child routine exams?

My insurance conpany received all of the bills, and I am very happy they did and not me because they totaled hundreds of dollars.
