if your kids are about 30-36 months apart

did you get a double stroller?
if so was it useful? a waste? what is the age diff? are you a SAHM or FTWM?

DD will be 33 months when my 2nd is born, the whole time i didnt think about a double but after reeading posts on pregnancy im wondering...
DD hates being in the stroller now, i think it would be a waste.
what are your opinions?

FTWM. DS was 2.5 when DD was born. He's three now, she's 7 months.

I got a hand me down double jogger and it's great. We've used it for the zoo and long walks. It being free might factor pretty heavily in my opinion though.

SAHM

DS was 2 years 9 months when my twin DDs were born. Even though he was great about being in the stroller, her got the boot when the girls came along. He will still sit in shopping carts if we are all out together (I push girls, DH pushes DS in cart). But other than that he walks everywhere.

Even walked the whole Bronx Zoo when we went over the summer.

While I miss him being contained in the stroller, I really never wanted a triple stroller. It took some adjusting (he needed to learn to stay with me, and not run in parking lots, etc) but we are fine now.

DS was 3y4m when DS2 was born. I didnt get a double and wouldnt have gotten one if DS had been just under 3 either.

For MONTHS prior to DS2s birth, we wouldnt even buckle DS1 into the stroller, he would sit in it and hop in and out. So I decided to wait and see. While there have been a few times when a double might have been helpful, they are so few it wouldnt have made sense to spend all that $$ for the few random times DS has wanted to sit in a stroller.

I am a SAHM.

Re: if your kids are about 30-36 months apart

My girls are exactly 3 years apart. I bought a Sit N Stand stroller off of here for $40-- totally worth it!!

My oldest daughter doesn't mind walking and likes to walk a lot of places (and thankfully behaves Chat Icon ) but there are just some places where we do a lot of walking....amusement parks, other places when we're at a festival or something all day long....even walks around our neighborhood. It's nice to have a little seat for her to take a load off, especially in the summer when it's hot, etc...and also when I want to pick up the pace and move faster than her little (tired) legs can walk.

It was the best $40 I've spent...we still use it every once in a while, and my girls are 4.5 years and 1.5 years now.

Oh, I work FT but we are always out & about on the weekends.

Re: if your kids are about 30-36 months apart

My kids are almost exactly 3 years apart. I got a double stroller and used it, and still do, all the time. Even when my older one turned 4 and he was a little too big for it I still used it when I needed to. When I am alone, I need to keep them controlled and contained and I can't have my older one run off. He didn't love being in it but as long as they had books or toys to occupy them it was fine. Plus sometimes if we were on vacation walking around he would get too tired to walk and wanted to sit. I didn't get an expensive one and in my opinion it was totally worth having.

I'm a SAHM

I didn't, they are exactly 2 1/2years apart.

There are a few times that if we walk a ton (zoo, shopping in late afternoon) my oldest could use a stand- stroller, but overall my DD1 is a great walker and listener in public. Holds the stroller in parking lots & crowded places, so it was not necessary at all. Now she is 3 1/2+ and definitely couldn't see using it at all.

Yes and it was a semi waste. I ended up selling the double sit n stand. Never used it. My double BOB is a god send. We use it on all our vacations.

I did - I got the Joovy Ergo Caboose. I would have gotten the Joovy Ultralight sit and stand but I knew we were going to try for a third so I wanted a sit and stand that could also accommodate a younger child. I love the stroller but it weighs about 1000 lbs. The only time we have really used it is for walks and for travel/amusement parks. I would just get a cheap sit and stand if you are not planning to have any more kids. Or check craigslist.

My kids are 3 years, 4 months and I got the double sit and stand. I used it esp in the spring/ summer when I wanted to go out walking. It's not too much$, so I thought it was worth it.
