If your kid had sleeping issues
When did the issues eventually end?
Dd is 15 mo, and will sleep fine. She just won't sleep on her own, so her and I cosleep while dh sleeps on his own. We've been fine with this, but I miss sleeping with dh, and we plan on adding more kids into the mix.
So, if you had a rough sleeper, when did it even out? 2? 3? 4? Give me some hope lol

We started working in it at 16 months. Finally stsrted sleeping through on own at just about 2. That was with the help of a sleep trainer.

Re: If your kid had sleeping issues
We have kids that love to cosleep. Had to break the habit ourselves. DS before 1.5, DD at 1. There was no sign by them: we just needed our bed back (had a second child, DH was sick of it, needed good sleep). We started them in cribs, but took them in when they had issues sleeping.

Re: If your kid had sleeping issues
Last night for the first time I tried something different. When DD woke up in her crib crying to come in our bed I picked her up and sat with her in my glider. She fell asleep and then I put her back in the crib, did this 1 more time after that and it worked. She stayed in her crib till 7 this morning. Maybe this is something you can try?

Is she necessarily a bad sleeper? Or is this just the only way she's ever known how to sleep? Give it a try for a few nights putting her in her own crib. She might surprise you! I coslept with my kids until they were about 9 months old, and then we were both ready for them to move into their own sleeping space. We did a slow transition that took about two weeks.

She goes down in her crib every night
Sometimes she lasts two hours in there, sometimes 5, sometimes 7, and rarely she'll last the whole night. When she wakes I bring her to bed so I can get sleep. She never wants to play or stay up, she just won't go back down in her crib during the night

How long do you allow her to fuss before you go in and get her? And is she actually crying or is she just making sounds?

I only hear her once she cries, and our rooms are very close. I don't have the heart to let her cry-I rarely even let her cry during the daytime

I think you may need to let her fuss a little. My DS often fusses in the middle of the night (he's 17 months), but it's usually only 1-3 minutes. I think if I went in every time he made a peep, we'd both get no sleep. If he fusses for longer than 5 minutes, I check on him. He'll usually go back to sleep if I nurse him quickly. When I put him in his crib, he'll cry for 30-60 seconds and then passes out.

I agree. I read that babies don't know how to connect their sleep cycles so often cry while they are learning... if they are interrupted at this time & woken up fully, they never learn. So it's ok to let her cry 5 minutes or so, so that she can learn how to get herself back to sleep.

This is my DD. She's sleeping next to me right now. Getting her to sleep is a battle every night. She will be 4 in January. My 7 month old DS slept through the night in his crib from the first night home. He sleeps 12-13 hours straight. I think it's just born in them.
