If your baby had/has a milk protein allergy...
...at what age was it discovered? My older son had it and it was diagnosed at 6 weeks. My younger son is now 2 months, so I've been feeling like we're in the clear with him. But suddenly, today, he's been screaming crying like he's in pain and he's never ever done this before, so now I'm wondering. TIA.

3 weeks old. The only reason I took a diaper into the ped is because I saw a strain of blood. He was crying a lot for that past week or so, but it's my first baby and I didn't know how much they cry. I also didn't know that if you have a family history of allergies (which I do) they may be more likely to have the milk allergy.

I knew within his first week home that something was wrong. He was diagnosed at 2 weeks.. Maybe it is reflux. Is he arching his back a lot?

My DS was 6 weeks, but my friend's baby was around 3-4 months old.

No arching, so I don't think it's reflux. I thought maybe it was gas, but the screams were so intense that it seemed worse than his usual gas cries. I'm just holding my breath waiting for his next poop to check for blood

Around 2 months...and at 5 months she seems to be over it.

Not until 6 months but I did EBF and even though I'm a big dairy eater, it didn't bother him in my milk but the second he had yogurt his face broke out. We took him to a ped allergist and sure enough he has a milk allergy along with a lot of other allergies. The ped said the he would probably out grow it and that it wouldn't bother him in foods with milk that were cooked but so far he's 17 months and still has it and even in cooked foods it bothers him so we just steer clear.
I am due with number 2 next month and I think I am going to not eat dairy for this one while I EBF. DS had really bad eczema his first few months and I think even though he didn't have bloody stools or the rash on his face, from my research I think that the eczema was from the dairy.
