If you were due on Thursday...
Would you go somewhere that is 30 mins drive time away on major highways by yourself??
Is that dumb? I just don't want to sit around and want to do as many errands as I can.

Re: If you were due on Thursday...
I lived over an hour away from our hospital- so I'd say you'll be fine.

Re: If you were due on Thursday...
I would (and did)... I had DS 2 weeks late so I am glad I went out and did things. I couldn't imagine just sitting at home for 2 weeks straight!

I agree. The hospital where I am delivering is 40 minutes away.

yeah, I guess you can't just sit home.
The thing that I am afraid of is going into labor and being stranded, not being able to drive myself home-- but what are the odds that I would have major contractions so close together where I couldn't drive.

May make for an interesting birth story! Just make sure you tell people where/when you are going to be on call if you need a pick up!

the problem is that I would totally be stranded as no one lives near me... I'd need to wait at least an hour or two before anyone would be able to get to me.
whatever, I am just going to chance it if I feel up to it. The snow will probably keep me home tomorrow anyway..

If you think there's a chance that you'll be stranded, then don't do it.

Honestly, for a first time mom, that would be rare. You will KNOW when you are starting labor and you will have plenty of time to get yourself home.

Re: If you were due on Thursday...
I would. I will have to commute with an hour drive into NYC everyday. I am just not looking forward to that! If I do have labor pains I would wait for my husband to pick me up or take a car home.
