If you use this needle
this hateful hateful needle- i think it's for Menopur, but I'm using it for Heparin: Do you have trouble using it? Like I stick the needle part on the top of the green part and it doesnt click on, it just kind of rests there. And then I can't take the cap off without taking the whole needle off. Both times today, I finally got the cap off and I stuck myself in the finger and had to get a new top AND I hate the plunger thingie. It doesnt plunge smoothly. I went to Kraupners today but they said this is the only needle that works for my med.
Am I just grasping for things to complain about or do you have this problem too? Image Attachment(s):

I take Menopur, and I definitely don't use that needle. Can't you use the regular ones? I think mine is a 27 gauge 1/2" needle with a 3CC syringe (I will have to check though, I could just be making those numbers up right now ).

Re: If you use this needle
I was just checking online for you (because I'm being lazy and don't want to do anything right now ) and this is what a pharmacist said:
Okay- so I am a pharmacist! AND I am also very sad to hear the incompetence of pharmacists out there!!! The only "defense" that I can add/say is that because Heparin is really not commonly used in the outpatient population the community/retail pharmacists are not 100% comfortable or know 100% what to do. BUT- That being said- THEY should ASK and get the right information for the person! What they need to give you (which is what you may have gotten because it is usually dosed in units for that medication) are the insulin needles! They are the SUB-Q (into the skin) needles that can also be used to draw up Heparin. The ones I got are 1ml (1cc), 31G (the higher the gauge the thinner the needle and therefore less pain), 8mm (length of the needle- or also called short needle) insulin BD syringes. Do you want me to call the pharmacy morons for you?!

thanks. I asked the pharmacist yesterday and he said these are the only needles to use for my dosage (which is a different dosage than what the person on babycenter asked about). Im going to speak to the pharmacist again to see if maybe Im opening the cap wrong, which would explain why I stab myself every time.
