if you use the NoseFrida
I picked this up today because DS is very congested. Does your baby just calmly sit or lay there while you use it?? Mine was fighting it like crazy, first he tried to get it into his mouth, then he kept moving his head so I couldn't get it to stay on his nostril. I hardly was able to get any mucus out. What's the trick to get your kid to stay calm while you use it???? DS is almost 7 months old so can't understand being told to sit still. Everybody raves about this product, got great reviews & I definitely need something to help him with the congestion.

It takes both DH and I to use it on my DS. He's 2.5. He's the same way with saline nasal drops.

Dd screams like I am burning her with hot pokers. I just do it quick and literally the second it's over with she stops.
Eta - unless the mucous is free flowing and loose already I use saline spray first to losen everything up. And she screams and gets wild when I do that to her too.

Re: if you use the NoseFrida
I found that my DS would do the same thing at the beginning, but then he became a pro and learned that it helped him. THankfully, he learned to blow his nose around 2! My DD now does the thrashing about. It's normal and IMO still better than the syringe bulb. You have to figure out how best to hold their hands and head. GL!

You would think we were killing her. She screams, cries, bucks like a wild animal. We pin her down.

Re: if you use the NoseFrida
It usually involves wrangling and laying down on the couch but even then you gotta be quick!

Re: if you use the NoseFrida
If she's really stuffed and her nose is a little sore she won't let me use it.
She loves the salin mist though (we use the Arm and Hammer one).
I shoot that, wait a bit, lay her on the couch and stabilize her head and arms between myself and the couch back. It's kind of barbaric but it gets the job done.

Re: if you use the NoseFrida
My little freak actually likes it and lays still when she sees me coming at her with it. Once in a while when she's not in the mood, she'll go nuts and we just pin her down and do it fast.

Re: if you use the NoseFrida
Yes he needs a little restraining --- DH holds his hands and I put saline drops in which thins the mucus so it'll come out better and easier -- that helps a lot so def use saline first. And sometimes we just do saline throughout the day without actually using the NoseFrida -- just to keep the nose and mucus linings soft. Ped recommended that.
Then, I just use the NoseFrida while DH holds him and we try and sing to him while we are doing it, we put his favorite music on, and we even take toys and try and distract him - we also take breaks in between so it's not like one big uncomfortable session.
Also, he came from the old school bulb so he hated that SO much that this is much less invasive so he actually wiggles a lot less with this only because I think he's just like thank God it's not that other one.
