If you started supplementing, when did you stop mixing breastmilk and formula?
We started supplementing with formula on saturday and did 1/4 formula 3/4 breastmilk the first 2 days and then yesterday and today did 1/2 and 1/2. After how long did you give a full formula bottle? Should we do a few more days of mixing it?
ETA: I eventually want her to have one full 6-7oz bottle of formula/day I think. The rest will be pumped BM while i'm at work and I will still BF her in the AM and PM.

I never give a straight formula bottle.
luce gets 4 bottles a day, 3 oz bm, 2 oz formula. I am upping him to 6 oz next week, so it would be (hopefully) 4 oz bm and 2 oz formula.
he is ebf the rest of the day/night.
ETA: if you are doing this to stop pumping altogether, then I have no idea.

Thanks Jess, I figured I should eventually stop mixing but I guess I don't have to. It's working out pretty well doing 1/2 and 1/2 during the day so I may just have MIL continue to do that for a while.

Thanks Jess, I figured I should eventually stop mixing but I guess I don't have to. It's working out pretty well doing 1/2 and 1/2 during the day so I may just have MIL continue to do that for a while.
I just like the idea that every meal he is getting some breast milk...I know formula is perfectly fine but I..just..can't 
ETA: my mil calls it my "farmacia" b/c I'll have 4 bottles waiting to be filled, with all of my pumped milk bottles and the formula all waiting to be mixed

i always did separate bm and formula. really its 6 one way 1/2 dozen the other way.
i dont think mixin formula and bm is healthier or more beneficial than giving straight up bm and straight up formula and vice versa.
it all goes to the same place. i keep it separate more for me mentally. i dont like mixing milks... just weird.
i did mix in the very beginning for a few days maybe a week but that was it..

Totally know what you mean, that's why I put off giving her formula until 5 months. I was killing myself pumping but just couldn't keep up anymore.
As for your MIL, does she refer to you as "teta" too like my MIL does?

Jess, our daughters are so close in age and I am having the same problem. I am in pharma sales and work out of my car and can only pump twice a day. Some days when I am in not so safe areas, its only once a day.
Needless to say, we started supplementing about 10 days ago. I had to spend a night in Jersey for a meeting and we didn't have enough for her to make it the whole time on only BM. We mix 1/2 and 1/2. She now gets 5-6 bottles a day at 6oz each.
She has been much more content too. She wasn't very fussy before, but she's just had a little improvement in her demeanor. We were giving her 5 oz bottles of all BM before and I guess it just wasn't enough. 
We are going to keep this up for now because I just can't keep up with what she's eating. I'm ok with it and she's been happier so its been our best solution so far.

I mixed for a while until I just wasn't pumping enough. Once I couldn't pump enough to have ALL her bottles be a mixture, I went full formula and just nurse two dream feeds.
So essentially, I always mixed until I stopped pumping.

so glad you asked this! i started doing 1/2 and 1/2 this week and am thinking that like the above poster that once pumping stops yielding me as much that i will do full formula. i am pumping less and less so that day might be sooner than later. so far he seems to not mind the formula/BM mixture and i'm sure it tastes different so i am hoping the full formula bottle goes over well!

So you're going to keep doing 1/2 and 1/2? DD takes 6 oz of mixed BM & formula too. I told MIL to do this again today and that she should continue mixing it for a while.

I did 2 days of 3/4 formula/1/4 BM... two days of 1/2 and 1/2 and then I switched to all formula, and she took to it very easily
