what did you do when you went shopping (supermarket, costco, target, etc) or to restaurants?

I'm pretty sure Loey will be too heavy for his carseat come his 4 month appointment next week.

I was just thinking... what will we do when we go to restaurants? We normally just bring the carrier! And what about shopping? We usually put the carrier right in the cart.

He can't sit up on his own yet... so what do we do???Chat Icon

What kind of stroller do you have? A lot of them have a good recline feature that is useless early on.

I would put him right into his stroller.

It's annoying when you go shopping because I would literally push the stroller and pull a cart behind me (don't forget, Jack was out of the infant seat at 2 months so it was torture)

For shopping trips, you can put him in a carrier like the Bjorn and push the cart - although you're tiny, I'm thinking Loey might outweigh ya soon Chat Icon Chat Icon

either a cart with 2 blankets shoved next to him for support, or the stroller. We stopped the infant seat around 3.5 mos and only used the stroller once (because he was asleep).

you can either put him right into the stroller OR put him in the shopping cart cover with a blanket to prop him up.

Shopping: If I take DS, I keep him in his stroller and attached a canvas bag to the stroller and put my stuff in that as I walk around the store. I can't purchase big items or a lot of stuff, but it also limits my spending.

For big purchased like diapers at BRU, or trips to Lowes, I go with DH. One of us pushes the shopping cart, the other pushes the stroller.

Supermarket - DH goes alone in the mornings. DS and I stay home.

Restaurants - We haven't been out to eat. However, if we did go, I'd take his spacesaver high chair with me and attach it to a chair.

I had to shop w/ DH using only his stroller. when we went to restaurants (which was rare) DH would bring the snugride in the trunk and we would sit him in there so we could eat. such a PITA having a big baby that can't sit up yet!

Can you leave the carrier in the car to use in restaurants or in the supermarket?

DD is still in her infant car seat but she became too heavy to me to carry her in it at around 4/5 months. When she couldn't sit unsupported yet I would either put her in the stroller and do a small food shopping (until I could get back to the store without her) or I would put her in the bjorn-like carrier... she loved that thing.

For restaurants we would take the stroller in and she'd sit/sleep in there.

I was thinking the same thing, retiring the infant seat at 4 months. I have the peg perego uno which is pretty good for reclining and restaurants, if we ever go Chat Icon. Me and DH usually just go shopping together so we have the carriage and the shopping cart. I guess I can try the bjorn facing forward, I just hate when people come up and touch his hand or something! I started putting my DS into a stroller at 4 months. I just strapped him in and he was fine! We have the Combi Cosmo stroller.

You can put him in his stroller - if it has a recline - at a restaurant or use the Baby Bjorn and have him "hang out" while shopping. Chat Icon

I used my stroller (no infant seat) for everything and everywhere we went until my DD was able to sit up in the shopping carts and use the high chairs in restaurants. Chat Icon

We bought this:

It's awesome, because you pull it around DS's waist and it keeps him from falling all over the seat. And it works wtih high chairs as well.

We use the shopping carts with the infant seats if possible as well.
