If you received a free washer/dryer...

If you received a free washer/dryer...

...would you give your old ones away for free or try to sell them.

A friend of ours is giving us a new washer dryer set that came with his new house. He wanted to use his own and offered these to us. Our current set is a few years old and are in great shape. Obviously been used for a few yrs but otherwise great condition. The new ones have many more cool features.

Would you feel guilty selling your old set or would you feel like you should give it away since you received a brand new set free? This has been a source of a small disagreement between DH & I. Obviously the set could be sold and some $$ given to the friend, or we could keep it for ourselves, or we could just give them away.

Thoughts?

Re: If you received a free washer/dryer...

honestly, I may be greedy, but I would list them on craigslist. Being I'm a ebay addict, I try and sell EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING.

Not at all. You should put the ad on Craig's List. Sell them for something - the person buying them doesn't know that you got a new set for free.

Sell them unless you knew someone in need who isn't financially able to buy new ones.

I agree, if I knew someone that could use them and needed them I would give it to them free. If I did not I would sell them and keep the money.
