I'd like to recommend Three Cups of Tea. It is a true story about an American man who sets up schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is very informative, moving, heart-wrenching and extremely inspirational.

I hope you like it - it's a bit slow in the beginning but gets better and better, IMO.
