If you have an open floor plan
Where the LR, Kitchen, DR are all open to each other do you do the same decor/color theme in each room or does each room have its own thing going on?
I'm specifically trying to figure out window treatments.... should they all be the same color/style since they are all basically in the same room?

Re: If you have an open floor plan
Our kitchen and living room share the front wall of the house and both rooms have the same shape and size windows. We did plantation shutters in the kitchen and curtains in the living room.

Re: If you have an open floor plan
When our living room and kitchen were together in our open floor plan (in a cape), I just used complimentary curtains but, not the same ones (I had white valances in the kitchen window and striped curtains in the front window.
Both rooms were different colors.
Now, that we're in a colonial, I have painted the entire open area the same color but, I will be using different window treatments in each area again (but, ones that go together).

Re: If you have an open floor plan
We did an open floor plan. I actually did each room a different color so each room was distinguished from the other. Nothing crazy drastic, just different neutral colors, enough so it's not monotonous. Our living room and Dining room are right next to each other and I happened to find curtains that matched both room colors perfectly...this way it ties in nicely but believe it or not even though they're the same the wall coloring bring out different characteristics in the curtains. In my house I don't think it would have looked good with different color/style curtains but that's for each persons own opinion. I didn't do any sort of curtains in my kitchen or sitting area because they are arch windows and I love the amount of light that comes through, but we did do matching cellular shades that we bought at Lowes. They look beautiful when they're down and still let in a lot of light, and when they're up (especially with arch windows) you don't even know they're there!

Re: If you have an open floor plan
We have an open floor plan with 2 big windows and a slider. I have the same window treatments on all windows (wood blinds and curtains) the slider just curtains/panels).
I try to keep everything flowing color wise. the kitchen/dining are painted the same color. LR another one. I don't think its too drastic.
