i dont have any pictures but our fireplace is caddy corner on two walls - 1 that backs the dining room and 1 that backs the closet by the front door. we have the tv over the fireplace and the cable box/dvd player on the shelf in the closet

we dont have one over the TV but we do have one over our radiator and the cable box is in the basement. We have a red eye.

I was told or read that you shouldn't have a tv over a wood burning fireplace, so we don't.
If you do a google search you will find inspiration pictures.
As far as were to put it. You could also get a small cabinet or run all the wires inside the walls and have it in a closet.
And just out where are you hiding a fireplace in your house?

James wants to get rid of my massive Ethan Allen Entertainment Unit. We would move the couch to the wall under the window and the room that the Ent unit is on now.
We would put a flat screen on the wall across from the window. I would like to get a fireplace - but one of those smaller units may be doable too.

There are pics in my album and we ran the wires in the wall when we redid our den. We got a small table to put all the components on.

I think that is a great idea. While your wall unit is beautiful it takes up so much space in your LR. So the couch would go under the window and across the back wall?
I think though if you put a fireplace you are going to miss a place for storage.
What about a unit like we have , remember I used to keep L's toys in there. We actually got that at EA and they still have it.
