If you had internal stitches after a vaginal birth
How long before it wasn't sore anymore?
I am 6.5 months post partum, almost 7, and it is still sore most of the time - borderline painful. It kills me to DTD. I want to cry just thinking about it. Is this normal? I was seriously thinking about making an appointment with my OBGYN.

honestly it was like 9 for me..and sex still hurt a little..it will heal though

I had them and was in excruitiating pain for about 8 weeks PP. I couldn't even sit straight.
The pain and discomfort went completely away around 3-4mths PP.
However when DTD, I definitely still feel pain. Sometimes it feels like I reopened the tear lol but i know I didnt

Honestly it hurt me still to DTD up until like a month ago. Lubrication works wonders.

I was in so much pain 3-4wks PP. I only feel the pain less when I was sitting on a boppy pillow.
I am now 6wks PP and the pain is barely there.

Thanks for posting this, I have been wondering too, but a bit too shy. I'm feeling exactly the same way. Poor DH  Poor Me!

Ugh, this thread sucks ( no offense )
Still have not DTD, tonight was supposed to be "THE NIGHT" (it is DH's birthday so I decided it would be a good night to get over the fear)
and i totally panicked and didnt go for it

WOW this thread is making me itch! LOL I actually had a lateral episiotomy which I HIGHLY suggest you talk to your doctor about for next time. The pain went away quickly and there is less chance for infection.

I had an episiotomy & tore to the side, so maybe that's why it took me longer.

Well, 8 months later I'm still in a lot of pain
even with lube...I had a 4th degree tear though and surgery 2 weeks after to have that repaired so i'm sure i'm a special case 
I am going to physical therapy to help with the pain and to get the muscles working properly again, hopefully it will help.

Nope, I tore naturally, no episiotomy.
Tilde I am so sorry!  I have to say, the guilt I feel over not DTD is worse than the pain of doing it sometimes

it took a LONG time
at my 6 week check up, my doctor gave me my internal and even she said I'd better give it another few weeks before sex.
it took even longer than that.
I had A LOT of stitches though. I lost a lot of blood so not sure if the amount of stitches has any correlation to length of time though. my cervix was torn.
ETA: Tilde, we didn't for almost 5 months. and since then it hasn't been that stellar either. it's scary. sometimes I'll slide over on a seat or something and still feel like I can just rip right in half.
don't be hard on yourself. it will happen.

Things didn't feel totally normal again until a year later, and this was after tearing in the same place twice
Lots of lube makes all the difference!

We've only DTD a few times since I gave birth... I'm knocked out the second my head hits the pillow since I only sleep in 3 hour increments...
It hurt the first couple of times but the last time it didn't and I'm only 3 months pp.
After DD I think it hurt for longer but she did so much damage it's a miracle that I ever DTD again...
I'd speak to your OB, it seems like it's taking you longer than average..

It took a LONG time, prob around 6 mos. I actually went to a second OB to make sure everything was ok (healing/stitched up normally) I was told that everything was very normal . It's still just not as comfortable as I would like it.
