If you had 1 day at Disney....WWYD? Please help!
We decided to go to Florida towards the end of January because flights are super cheap. We'll have 1 day available to go to Disney. I have 3.5 year old and a 2 year old with special needs (CP). If you had 1 day, where would you go and what would you do?
I'm thinking Magic Kingdom but I know nothing about Disney. Please help! We'll be going on Monday January 22nd, if that makes a difference.

If I were you, i would do MK. Book a princess or character breakfast or dinner in the park so you can be sure to see characters. Hit the parade.mthere are plenty of rides for them to go on there.

MK is definitely where you want to go with only one day and kids that age. I would see if you can book a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's in the contemporary hotel ( so they can meet the "main" characters- mickey, minnie, goofy, pluto, and donald). try to get it for as early in the morning as you can. (it might be booked up at this point since people start doing meal researvations 6 months ahead) Then you can take the monorail, or even walk into MK and be ready to go Buy your park tickets soon, so you can go online and make your 3 fast passes when you're 30 days away (i'm guessing you're staying off disney property?) Honestly, at that age, i would just take it all in and let them take it all in- Do whatever you can/ whatever they seem into--- don't worry about how much you fit in and just enjoy what you DO get to see!

I would do the Magic Kingdom, and also get a DAS for your daughter with special needs. Use that in conjunction with the fast pass, and you would likely see a lot. I personally wouldn't bother with a character meal since it eats up a ton of time, a Monday at the end of January isn't going to be busy in the parks, and character meal food isn't usually good at all to be honest!

Definitely Magic Kingdom and yes, as the poster above mentioned go to guest services and get the DAS pass, it was a lifesaver for us (my son is autistic/globally delayed).
We did a character buffet in MK (Crystal Palace) but if we didn't have the dining plan I probably wouldn't have went for what they charge.

No question magic kingdom. I'd do a character meal. For MK you could do one of these. Cinderellas Royal Table for the princesses Crystal Palace for Pooh and friends. (Loved breakfast there) Chef Mickeys. At the contemporary. You could walk easily to MK. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, goofy and Donald Ohana lilo and stitch. At the Polynesian. Monorail to MK Dinner at 1900 Park fare. Atthe grand Floridian. We loved this one. Cinderella, Prince Charming, lady tremaine and the step sisters. They were hilarious.
Rides Peter Pan Small world Little mermaid Dumbo Carousel Pirates of the Caribbean Haunted mansion Carousel Pooh (although my 4yo was scared of it) Princesses meet and greets (Tiana, rapunzel, Ariel, Cinderella, Elena, etc.)
We also did the Tiana ice cream social and parade viewing which was great.

We were in this situation last year. We went to Florida and originally had only 1 day at the park. We wound up being able to make it 2 days. Both days we decided on magic kingdom. The kids loved it! I would definitely do magic kingdom and book a character meal.

We only go for a day or two max. Definitely MK. Pick your kids favorite things to see: princesses? Mickey? Then buy tickets to fast pass 3 rides. Put all rides close together. My favorite starters are jungle cruise, pirates of carribean and magic carpets. We then do tiki room and take a break (ice cream or lunch). Then we do as much as we can in fantasy land (we do carousel and the movie while we FP small world, do teacups while we fast pass buzz or speedway). Peter Pan ride is ok. I actually had a better time in the line. They have a new cool interactive shadow thing! Be sure to see one character and a parade. That’s more than enough. I did the princess lunch last time and while it was cute, I thought it wasn’t that great and wouldn’t do it again. Don’t know about special needs.

Thanks everyone! I looked into character dining and the only one available is the one with Winnie the Pooh and my kids don’t really know those characters so I don’t think it’ll be worth it.
I’m definitely going to look into that DAS thing. My daughter has CP, can’t walk or sit. She’ll be in a stroller/chair the whole time. Will there be enough rides for her to go on? She’ll need to be held or at least held up- we’ve taken her on some rides at sesame.

If you are on Facebook, join the group "Tips for Special Needs at Disney". It is very helpful for planning for Disney with a Special Needs Child.

I booked a character breakfast at a hotel near Epcot for an early breakfast on the day we fly home! That way we don’t have to waste time on the only day we’ll be at the park on a meal.

Guest services will give you a tag to use your stroller as a wheelchair, that way it can be pushed through either the standby or the fast pass line. Do keep in mind that they do NOT issue a DAS for mobility issues alone, so you will need to tell them that she has a hard time waiting in the line, even in the stroller as a wheelchair.

No! It was sold out. We’re going to Minnie’s beach bash at cape may cafe.

We are doing the same thing. Only going to be at WDW for 2 days as an add on to a Florida trip for a family event. We are taking my grandkids (3 1/2 & 1 1/2) for the same character breakfast in March.

So then plan right now is to head up to Disney Sunday night and check into the hotel (All star music). Then we'll get up bright and early for a fun day at MK. Go back to the hotel to sleep and then up and at 'em early to check out and head over to the breakfast. After breakfast, we're going straight to the airport.
We bought target gift cards when they did the 10% sale and then used them to buy Disney gift cards and we're going to purchase our tickets using those. Then I can book our fastpasses!

Sounds like a great plan! I would buy your tickets ASAP so you can book your fastpasses. Since you are staying onsite, you can book them 60 days in advance
