Re: If you get a real tree every year
When we used to get a real tree, we once made the mistake of putting it up too early- and it dried out so bad by Xmas that it was a fire hazzard. So be careful!
We started doing it the 2nd weekend of Dec- and that was a much better option. (Then we went to fake and now we can put it up whenever )
I know everyone likes to start the decorating earlier and earlier- but it's not worth having your house burn down. Just be careful!

Usually 2nd week of December... but we ALWAYS WANT to get it right after Thanksgiving. Having the tree in the house makes me all happy inside...

Re: If you get a real tree every year
We always go the day after thanksgiving. We cut our tree down at Lewins in baiting hollow. $30 any tree any size. Our tree stays fresh way after christmas.

Re: If you get a real tree every year
Well, it kind of depends on how long you plan on keeping up your tree.
Like, in my family it doesn't come down until Little Christmas so it'll be up through the first week or so in January so with that in mind we put up the tree around the 17th of December.
You really can't get more than like three weeks from a live tree so if you're putting it up this weekend it won't look so great by the time Christmas rolls around. You're gonna have to wait a little longer.

Re: If you get a real tree every year
We always get ours the weekend after Thanksgiving. We cut it down ourselves which makes a HUGE difference in how long it lasts because the Home Depot and tree lot trees are already cut down at this point. Our trees last well past Christmas. We also turn off the heat in the immediate vicinity of the Christmas tree and make sure to water it every day, twice a day in the beginning.

Re: If you get a real tree every year
It doesn't really matter. With the exception of cutting your own tree, all trees being sold have already been cut down.

Re: If you get a real tree every year
First or second weekend in December. This year we'll probably go on 12/4 because we'll be in Jersey and that's where the farm is we've been going to for years (we used to live 20 minutes away, it's just tradition now)

The only difference is they probably survive better being outside in the cold than in the house with the dry heat on. Then again a lot of these lots don't have the trees in water.
