If you ever sold a home....

did you sit on an offer?

We put an offer on a house Wed - supposed to hear back Friday - The sellers are listed with an agent and are also doing FSBO - after receiving our offer they told the agent someone was supposed to come check their house out on saturday and could they answer us back after that...so we knew we'd be waiting until Saturday....Then we find out Saturday night that the people who were supposed to come for the showing never came...our agent expressed to their agent that we want an answer ASAP - we are not going to sit around and wait forever - either give us a counter or say no....now it is Monday afternoon and still NOTHING from these people....

Our agent thinks they are trying to hold out for a better offer. They are listed so unrealistically high and our agent doesn't think they will get an offer better than ours....

Did anyone ever do this as a seller? Just sit on something and wait for a better offer to come along? Should we just forget these people? Or do we wait it out because we really love the house and there is nothing else out there for us anyway?

I'm really ****** - either come out and say no OR counter us! I know we aren't in any type of contract and the 48 hours they had to respond passed - but it's like they want us to wait until they are ready to give a counter....I don't know....I'm

We never did it, we gave immediate answers, but that was a different market. I have had it done to me, and my DH and I pulled our offer. If that was just the initial stage and it was pain we didn't want to go through the rest of the process with PITA people to deal with and the house wasn't worth it to us.
