in the summer-everyday..I have a strange shaped property so I have to keep moving the sprinkler.

You should check with your water district. In mine, we are only allowed to water on odd days since we have an odd address number. Otherwise we can be ticketed for watering on even days.

We have a rain gauge we make sure lawn gets at least an inch a week with one long soaking session per week if needed.
We have zoysia which is very drought tolerant.

We have something like that too.
We can only water on Sundays and Wednesdays.
In fact gotta go put the water out now in the front then before bed will move to the back. En route to the back will water the sides briefly.

We can only water on even days. And we water every other night (as opposed to morning). Some that that's not good, others say to water in the morning, but it works for us and our property and the way the sun hits it.
