If you did NOT do CIO

DD was a great sleeper and the last few weeks just refuses to sleep on her own in her crib. She insists on sleeping with us.. She just turned 2. I really don't have the heart to do CIO. I tried, and I couldn't do it and rght now at least I am not wlling to do it and am looking for alternative suggestions.

So my question is are there any moms out there who couldn't or wouldn't use CIO to help with their LO's sleeping problems? If so, what did you do to get LO to sleep? Did anything else work?

We tried a toddler bed, but again, DD starts crying unless I am literally sleeping next to her/ holding her hand as she sleeps.

CIO wasn't really for me either. And right after DD turned 2, she went from falling asleep on her own in her crib, to falling asleep IN our bed. I was 1 month pregnant and exhausted at the time this started, and just wanted her to sleep, so I let it happen, and then we moved her to her crib. We never let her stay the night with us. If she wakes in the night, I go in, but don't pick her up... I stay and sing her a song and slowly ease my way out as she falls back to sleep.

When she hit 2.5 we moved her to a toddler bed, and told her no more falling asleep in our bed. She was so excited for the toddler bed, she didn't care. But, I do stay and sing to her until she falls asleep... Usually 5-10 minutes. I sit in the glider and relax, so I don't mind. I'm due in March and the baby and DD will be sharing a room, so I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time rocking in the glider with the new baby as DD falls asleep anyway... So this works for us for now.

Can you tell her that you'll stay with her, but not physically hold her hand? And then once that's working, try putting a little distance between you two as she falls asleep... Take baby steps to get her to fall asleep in her room on her own.

I just bought a book recommended to me by a coworker called: no-cry sleep solutions. It's been a great read so far and I can see how the information would be helpful. I'm planning to test it out this week, I'm not against CIO but it is not right for me and my baby. I won't do it.
