If you delivered at Stony Brook

If you delivered at Stony Brook

What kind of pads did they have for pp bleeding? I delivered DS#1 at Good Sam and they had regular pads but they didn't have the sticky on the bottom which was okay because they had me packed with chucks and the jumbo pad and I had granny panties on etc. I just switched to normal pads at home.

Some ladies on here are saying that their hospital had these horrible pads with like belts or something to hold them up. I don't want to use those lol and if that's what SB has then I'll just pack my own Always lol.

Crashing.

They have maternity pads w/a sticky bottom. They are really bulky, but definitely needed. I too brought always Overnights and they didn't cut it. I felt more secure in the maternity pads SB provided.

Thanks so much! I didn't want to over pack so I didn't want to pack them if I didn't need them. Anything else you remember about being there that I may want to bring with me or may want to leave at home?

I brought pads with me but also preferred the hospital pads.

Bring the boppy, snacks/drinks for your DH is a must since they don't feed the guys. I found my ipad was very useful, a camera, lots and lots of granny panties, I would go maybe 2 sizes up because you're really bloated from all the fluids they pump into you.

That's all I can think of, off the top of my head. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: If you delivered at Stony Brook

Well I work for Stony Brook, but not in Maternity/PP unit. We have some pads in our department just in case a patient needs them. They are the big bulky ones with a sticky bottom. I'm guessing they are the same ones that they would give you in PP. I know they are the same ones that I got when I delivered at St. Catherines.
I have never heard of anyone getting a pad with belt. I didn't think they have made those since the 60-70s.I have never even seen a pad with a belt before. I saw someone mention that the other day. I wonder what hospital would give those out.

I only used hospital pads for the first night and then switched to Always infinity pads. I hated the hospital pads.

I think I also brought sensitive baby wipes with me because the hospital only had the soft cloths that you wet with water....can't believe I'm not remembering this....

Bring snacks, earplugs (PP room walls are very thin - I could hear everything going on in my neighbors' rooms), big towel for the shower, slippers/socks you don't mind throwing away because the floor felt gross to me, and underwear you don't mind throwing away.
