If they transfer multiple embyos with IVF....

What is the likelihood that multiple with take. I have a balanced translocation so I believe the Dr. would like to transfer many but are there any statistics or has anyone had experience with this?

I can't even tell you how many transfers i've had over the years at this point... to many to count though. In all of those I've had 2 implant twice, when I put 2 back. That being said I've also put 3 back and had none implant, so for me, stats don't mean much! HTH!

1 can take or both can. I know someone who had just one of the 2 take but that 1 split and she had identicals anyway.

Based on my situation, age, thickness of my uterine lining at time of transfer, etc. My RE told me I had a 75% chance of pregnancy if I put in 1 or 2 and a 50% chance of twins if I put in 2. According to my clinic, putting back 1 or 2 would not increase the chances of pregnancy, just of twins.

i put back 2, both implanted, one was a baby and one was an empty sac.

i dont think there are exact statistics because everyone situation is different. but you can look at a specific clinics percentage of IVF multiples here

I did a 3dt for my first transfer and transferred 3 embryos. 2 took and 1 split, so I had triplets. It unfortunately didn't end well though.

For this transfer I did a 5dt and transferred 2 emrbyos. I'm still waiting to see if it worked.

you never know what can happen. i have used a total of 14 embryos over multiple cycles and have one living child and am pregnant with twins

I had 2 put back and I ended up with 4 (yes, quadruplets) The embryo that split twice creating triplets never made it to the heartbeat stage, so I ended up with only my DS at the end.

I had three retrieved, three fertilized and were great quality, all three were put back and only one took. I don't have a translocation - my issues were age-related.

On my first fresh transfer I put back 3 and none took, 1st FET 3 back none took, 2nd FET 2 back and one baby. All my embryos were excellent quality however I am older (38) and in five years of IF treatments I never had a BFP until my last FET.

Did your RE give you any stats and recommendations? We are unexplained IF. My RE told me that our chances of conceiving via IVF were 50/50 (we had done 7 iuis prior and had one m/c). She then told us if we put two back we had a 30% chance of twins.

We were ok with this (I figured I needed the stars to align anyway for this to happen). She recommended putting two back. They both took and I am now 28w pregnant with and we are thrilled. You definitely have to be ok with the chance of more than one taking if you put more back. We discussed this at length with her before deciding to do so. We still have 6 frosties left so not sure what we will do about those.

Anyway, the stats she gave us were based on my age and dx. GL!

1st IVF: Put back 2, neither took (chemical pregnancy).

2nd IVF: Put back 2, 1 took (followed by miscarriage at 10 weeks).
