If someone provides you a service...
Like a babysitter, dog walker, etc. what do you if you take a day or a week off? Do you still pay them if you cancel?
Also, do you usually give a gift for the holidays?

I'm not sure about paying them if you don't need them BUT I would def get them a little something for the holidays or extra money

Re: If someone provides you a service...
I do both of those services and I get paid.
If I take off I don't get paid.
ETS: Both gave me something for Christmas.
Edited again to clarify : I get 2 weeks paid vacation with the family I babysit for. 1 week I can take when I want the other must be taken when they go away on vacation.

Re: If someone provides you a service...
I work part-time and have a sitter come twice a week when I go into the office.
I pay her if I cancel on her last minute (because my kid is vomiting, for example, and I tell her to stay home).
I don't pay her if she cancels last minute.
I don't pay her for days I give her off with a few weeks notice. I don't pay her for days she takes off in advance.
I do give her a Christmas bonus and some presents.

I don't pay my babysitter if either of us cancel, but I do give her a cash Christmas gift
