Yes, another anonymous name.... but I am no where near ready to come out yet... sorry!

When you had your first sono, were both babies measuring the same size, or was one bigger than the other?

I had my first sono today and there were two sacs with the yolk sacs inside. One sac was significantly smaller than the other. To be exact, it was about half the size of the larger one.

I know anything can happen at this point - I'm so early right now.

If you had a smaller sac, did it catch up to the larger one?

Is it possible that one embryo implanted a day or two later than the other?

My beta numbers really didn't indicate any chance of twins, but again having gone through this process more than once, I know that means nothing. I actually was not surprised to see two sacs this morning.

I didnt go through IVF...but at 8 1/2wks I found out Im having twins.

I did notice that twin B was smaller Twin A. She said that is common.

We also got to see a HB for both.

I also dont get my beta checked.

Well DS was from an IVF pregnancy that started as twins. We didn't see the second sac at the first sono (5 weeks), we saw it at the second (6 weeks) and at that point it was a lot smaller, at 7 weeks they both had HB's, but at 8 weeks we lost the twin (which had been smaller all along). HOWEVER, I've seen it go the other way many many times so don't lose hope. Congrats

Well, I think in the beginning one of them was slightly smaller than the other, maybe by 1 or 2 days.
But for most of my pregnancy they were pretty much the same size.

not a twin mom, but an identical twin ...

I have always been bigger than my sister, from day one and even on sonos! At birth I was 8.3 and she was 7.3. I have always been about an inch taller also VERY common for one to be bigger, one smaller. Also very common to have different HR even if identical!

Not IF but .... My betas were not high at all with my twins, they were actually pretty low and dr. was worried I was going to miscarry again. Around 6-7 weeks they shot up.

My 1st sono (5 1.2 weeks) twin b was significantly smaller and the dr. told me that it was early and there was a chance twin B might not make it. At 7 weeks saw both HB's and twin B was still smaller. My entire pregnancy B was smaller - always measuring a few days behind.
At birth twin B was just over a pound smaller than A.

Completely normal - happened to me and several other twin moms on this site. Do a search on the multiples board.

Baby B was always measuring a few days behind, particularly on the early sonos. You can see pics in my pregnancy album. He was 10 ounces smaller than Baby A at birth.

The RE said at this stage they like to see the sac around 5mm. One sac was just over 6 and the other was just under 4. My husband is sort of freaking out, and I keep telling him while both were transferred together, one could have implanted a day or two later and that even a day can make a huge difference.

We've been down this road before, so we know anything can happen. My beta numbers in no way indicated there would be two, even the RE and the nurse were surprised.
