hi guys--
As a lot of you know, I volunteer every summer at Camp Heartland (formerly Birch Family Camp), which services children and families in our community with HIV & AIDS. If you know I volunteer at camp, you also know how much I love it and how a week in the woods has changed my life.
If any of you guys have been to sleep away camp, you know how fab it is and if you haven't been this is the perfect opportunity to regress to being 10 yrs old again and be part of something bigger than yourself all at the same time.
I mean, really-- who doesn't like arts & crafts, performing arts, camping, fishing, boating, campfires, slip & slides, costumes, dances, BBQs, smores, swimming, singing, music, dancing, and all around silliness in a beautiful state-of-the-art, air conditioned learning facility??!!
Camp is broken into 2 one-week sessions and first session is a month away, so there's still PLENTY of time to sign up and join the Camp band wagon. I'm doing Performing arts this year and we're seriously lacking in the staff department, so if you love to dress up, role play, act and create this has your name written all over it.
If you're not down with the make believe i bet you know someone who is, so pass the message along!
Not cool with nature but want to help us give children and their families one week completely unlike any other during the year? Great: WE NEED S'MORES SUPPLIES!!! Start a collection in your office, around your neighborhood, with your friends, etc. to S.O.S-- Save Our S'Mores!!
So PLEASE spread the word, volunteer at Camp Heartland this August, or simply buy some Chocolate, Graham Crackers or Marshmallows and make a difference in this world.
You'll be surprised at how a bag of 99 cent marshmallows can change the world!
