we offered to take the guy to dinner when they delivered- but it was the sales guy - and he drove back the car we were trading in
they offered to deliver it- so I didn't think I needed to tip him- and it was his sale- so he made the comission and got us to take the car a week before we were planning on it (end of the month)

My DH is a dealer and has delivered many cars to people out on the island (his dealership is in Queens). If the person is not trading in a car he can ride back in, I will arrange to pick him up, or he will have a service person follow him out to take him back. He will not take a tip. DH is very customer oriented and he says is all part of the service a customer should expect. I would hope all dealers are like that.
