Ideas for 50th Anniv party
Looking into having a surprise 50th for my parents this summer. Taking care of looking at places on the water for about 30 - 40 friends. Just wanted some ideas on decorating or fun things to have there to make it a bit more personal.
Most likely it will be a small room or semi private so don't want to go nuts with decorating or make it too corny.

My friend put pics of her parents through the years in frames. It was so nice. We saw them when they were young and when they got married and as their family grew and then with grandkids.
Not sure if you are having music, but they had a DJ and they danced to "Through the years".

I did picture frame centerpieces made into a box with flowers in the middle. The pictures started out as decades. I used 3x5 frames which my mom now has used throughout the house.
We did a diy photo booth.
My mom has a sweet tooth so I did a candy buffet.
We did everything in white and gold, but did splashes of green since green was their wedding color.
Eta: we did it at a hall. We hired a caterer, a dj and a photographer since we had all ages at the party.

I kept my parents party very simple and classic. I had pink hydrangea centerpieces. I hired a jazz trio and photographer. I had a table set up with their wedding album and had one of their pictures enlarged and people wrote little notes all around it. And I did bottles of proseco with personalized labels as the favor. My parents were thrilled with everything.

I also had photos on the tables of them from their wedding album.
I did a quiz on who knows them best. The top three scores got prizes. My mom read the questions and answered them. People went nuts and so did my folks

Could be fun to show facts/trends through the years.
Little things like sign next to a wedding photo that said guests were served duck for 7.95 a person. Etc
Cute things to show how times have changed. Also news or current events from the decades
