I wish DS was born in the winter...

His birthday is at the end of April and it's so tough for a birthday party. Everyone always has conflicts with other obligations (communions, dance recitals, weddings, engagement parties, confirmations, etc, etc, etc). I know DS will not really understand why people can't make it. Even his best friend can't make it because of his brother's communion (actually asked his mom if he could miss the communion to go to the party). I completely understand as we had two family obligations we had to work around just to plan the party, but I feel like there are very few other obligations in winter and he'd have everyone he wants at his party if that's when his birthday was. I'm hoping at least half the kids we invited can come. OK - vent over. Thanks for reading.

Well, if it's any consolation, DD is a 12/25 baby and even though it worked out well for her party this year, it could have been a snowstorm. A lot of people cancelled on the day of the party because it was very cold and crappy out. At least there is only one communion party his best friend must attend (until his own or unless he has cousins etc.)

I don't want a June baby because my June is already overflowing with birthdays, graduations, weddings etc. Maybe you can bring your DS and his best friend somewhere special for his b-day? Maybe after school or something?

I think we will try to plan something special for them, but we are still having a party for him. Seems like all the parties we go to in Nov-Dec-Jan-Feb are packed with kids and the other months aren't because of conflicts. We couldn't even give him a party last year because it's also grandma's birthday and we had a big party for her. He's turning five this year so we wanted to give him a big party. I'm sure he'll enjoy himself anyway but it's just aggravating.

November, December, January, February, March have potential snow storms and winter sports
April, May and June have spring sports, graduations, communions, etc.
July and August, everyone travels for vacations
September, October, November are fall sports and hurricane season....

I don't know my birthday is in February and growing up it seems there was ALWAYS a big snowstorm the day of the party. DS is a Christmas Eve baby so we will forever be planning around the Holiday season (I actually am thinking of celebrating his birthday on his 1/2 birthday in June when he gets older).

It probably doesn't matter when the birthday is, there are always conflicts or weather.

Cailen's bday is around Easter. In the past we have done parties in May just to be safe. We celebrate his bday as a family, and then have his party at a later date. Sure there are always a few who can't come, but for the most part we have had good turnouts!

We are having his party Apr 17 this year and so far the RSVP's are all yes!

My oldest is born May 10th....inevitably Mothers Day weekend and someone's communion

I booked his 1st bday the previous December

I just make sure to tell the people the date way in advance....its a hard time of year

I feel your pain...I do Emmy was born on Christmas Day and I can't even begin to think about how we'll handle it

Jade's birthday is April 2nd and her party is the 11th . I know in may there are alot of communions . Maybe you can do it a few weeks earlier of later?

My DS' Bday is Jan.
For the past 3 years, you would catch me ALL that week praying for nice weather so that people could make it and I wouldn't have to cancel/reschedule.

My DD's Bday is in May. Im in the process of planning her 1st Bday. Not sure how many "no's" I will get, but, we are not planning a huge party to begin with. We shall see.

I don't think there is any "perfect" month.

My DD's birthday is 12/23 so we will always have a lot going on around the time of her birthday. Not to mention always worrying if the weather is going to cooperate.

Thanks everyone. I know there is no perfect time of year for a party because everyone is busy year round. I guess I'm just bad a choosing dates. I'm still hoping for a good turnout.
