I want this house...frustrating!

My husband and I found a house we love. we made an offer. the house has been on the market for awhile now and in all that time, the seller has received (so I'm told) one other offer. they had to drop the price of the house once already so they're obviously not having the easiest time selling it. they need to get out and they know we're interested.

i feel like they're playing a game with us and i don't like it. i mean, if they really did get a better offer, what's the point in telling us they're considering ours? Why wouldn't they just take that one (which I'm told, is REALLY close to their asking price.)

This is not fun.

That is extremely frustrating, but I would try to give it a few days. Like you said, they could be playing games, or you may just be a better candidate with a lower price (the other offer may required those buyers to sell first). As you said, it's been on the market for a bit, and they've had to lower the price, so clearly it hasn't flown off the market. After having been on the real estate roller coaster for a while (almost a year now), I have def. learned that you have to put in an offer, seem interested and ready to go forward, but not too eager, and just remind yourself that if this one doesn't work out, another will.

i really think that they all play games. they're probably just telling you that to get you to up your offer.... this happened to me. i put in an offer, then all of a sudden out of nowhere they said that someone else was interested which of course wasn't true. in the end though i got the house. i just had a price set in my head that i would not go over no matter what. and just know that there will always be another house. good luck!

i honestly doubt they have another offer.

we were looking at house (on the market for about a year, total dump) and the realtor said "we have an offer for X already" (which was $30 less thank asking mind you) but since you guys called to see it, we wanted to see what you would offer.

I told the realtor if they had another offer of X, i suggest taking it.

guess what - the house is still on the market, and it was reduced to $10K more than that "offer" they said they had Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

it makes me so sick how these people play games

that's why one of the first things I learned was... you have to be able to walk away!

you will be paying that mortgage, not anyone else. stick to your guns if you don't want to pay over a certain price.

there are 40K houses for sale on LI. if this one doesn't work out, you will find another Chat Icon
