I really can't decide
on the c-section or the VBAC. I want to do what is best for the baby but how do I make that decision?
I feel like a c-section is easier, I get to pick the date, know when the baby is coming, plan a sitter for DS, etc. I know what the pain is like and I know that I can handle it. I know what is coming. I am nervous that I will have another large baby and it might be difficult to give birth to this one if he is as large (which judging from my growth sono this morning, he will most likely be just as large, if not larger). A larger baby also increases the risks of something happening to my uterus, meaning the scar could rip open which scares me so much. I know that if we are ever in the financial position to have #3 that the risks of having a third c-section are greater. I am reading that if I try for a VBAC, go through labor and it fails and I have to have a c-section that the risks are much greater for infection,etc.
With a VBAC, I feel like it's natural, what our bodies are suppose to do, give birth that way. I feel like I'd be taking the easy way out having the c-section. That I should just trust my body and nature and let nature take its course and baby will come when baby comes and that everything will be okay.
I just want to make the right decision it's so hard though. The midwives keep telling me that I should try for the VBAC and my mom, MIL, and DH are all terrified for me and trying to convince me that the safest way to give birth is a repeat c-section. My sister keeps warning me about the ring of fire with a vaginal birth and reminds me about my contractions when I was in labor with DS#1 and that I should just go with the c-section to avoid all of that.

I'm in the exact same boat. I kinda want a repeat C section, but also feel like its the easy way out.... but since we are already moms and are going to have a newborn... why can't we take the easy way out! I'll prob opt for it.

i think about this all the time too, when it is time for #2...
then i think about the fact that you only get 2 nights in the hospital with a VBAC  and i have a young child at home and 4 nights just sounds so much better
im really fearful of putting my body through a failed VBAC only to end up with a C

This is my biggest fear, having to go through labor only needing a VBAC. This is what Babycenter has to say about the risks:
Even if you're a good candidate for a VBAC, there's a very small (less than 1 percent) risk that your uterus will rupture at the site of your c-section incision, resulting in severe blood loss for you and possibly oxygen deprivation for your baby.
Also, if you end up being unable to deliver vaginally, you could endure hours of labor only to have an unplanned c-section. And while a successful VBAC is less risky than a scheduled repeat c-section, an unsuccessful VBAC requiring a c-section after the onset of labor carries more risk than a scheduled c-section.
With an unplanned c-section after laboring, you have a higher chance of surgical complications, such as excessive bleeding that could require a blood transfusion or a hysterectomy, in rare cases, and infections of the uterus and the incision. And the risk of complications is even higher if you end up needing an emergency cesarean.
Finally, there is the risk of the baby having a serious complication that could lead to long-term neurological damage or even death. While this risk is very small overall, it may be higher in women who undergo an unsuccessful VBAC (which would mean a c-section after failed labor) than in women who have a successful vaginal delivery or a scheduled c-section.
