I read an article in Allure magazine, which containted the word

cunexttuesday.

I thought is was interesting that they used this word in an article in a national women's magazine.

do you think we have become too blaise about what is "proper" to say/see/read in the media.

do you think that the use of profanity in everyday speak in magazines, papers, and tv is a good or a bad thing?

the article was about women being labeled *******....and the word b1tch was used ad naseum.

your thoughts?

I would've been stunned to see that word... I don't even say that word (this coming from a girl that "smiles like a saint but curses like a sailor"... literally).

I'm so not blaise about seeing or hearing profanity in magazine and on TV (espcially TV). All of a sudden, you're allowed to say d!ck (referring to you know what) and a$$hole... when did that happen?!

IMO, i think it's great that there is an article about this issue. if the use of the words helped to get the point across, then i don't see anything wrong with it.

I hate that word and don't think it is appropriate in any setting. We've become a country of "pottymouths" and, really, need to clean up our act. In 70 short years, we went from people being appalled at Clark Gable saying "I don't give a da*n" to a culture where the f-bomb is used by children. How sad.

Ok I curse like a truck driver and constanly try to control it but the "C" word, I hate the "C" word.

It goes back to the old philosophy... if girls use c*nt and b*tch freely and call each other by these names, it make it OK for men to use them and call women these names...

I hate the "c" word. It would have disturbed me to see it in an article in a mainstream magazine.

I understand saying it an anger or in an emotional state...but in written form, when you read...re-read...edit...

she was using it as an example (quoting some starlet) but they didn't even block it out.

I am not a huge fan of cursing. I curse more now than I ever did in my life...but I actually prefer to use words to convey my point, rather than simple expletives.

I think it would depend on what the article was about. If it was relevant to the topic, ie feminism, discrimination, harassment then I have no problem with it in an adult magazine.
