It cannot hurt. Believe it or not I lost a diamond out of my ring that my mom gave me last week (it was left for me from my grandmother and mom said "its yours). I had it on all of 2 or 3 days and the stone was gone.
I prayed, mom prayed. We looked everywhere. Low and behold, I went to the washing machine and the sun was shining in just the right spot..There it was, the diamond! I could not believe it.
Of course I am taking the ring to a different jeweler to have it reset!!
Sorry to kind of "change the subject", but, keep looking, say a prayer and you will find it!

pray to St Anthony- I swear it works
Jake lost his RX- a 2 week supply right before we were suppose to go away- the doc wouldn't give him another- b/c of the type of meds it was
I starting praying and he found it with in 45 minutes- after he had spent 3 hours looking already!

In the event you can't find them, you can go to the passport agency in NYC and receive them same day. You can also pay a passport expediting service to get you your passports in 3-4 days.
It costs more, but better than missing your trip!
