I need to vent....
What the hell is wrong with people? I was at my aunt's house today, and all my family was there. Well, my aunt wanted to hold her, but she had just gone outside to smoke a cigarette, so as she was about to grab Ava from my sister, I told her no, she couldn't hold her because she wreaked of smoke. Well, now she's not talking to me. What is wrong with people? That's second hand smoke. I don't smoke, my husband doesn't smoke, and I sure as hell am NOT going to have my daughter pawed by someone who has cigarette smoke all over them.  I can see I'm going to make enemies as a mommy.

You're right. She's wrong! I feel the same way about smokers. When my dad came to visit I made him wash his hands every time he went out to smoke. Luckily for some reason he didn't really smell of smoke. If he did that would be a real problem. Who wants to smell a newborn who smells like a stale cigarette? Hopefully she gets over it.

I aggree with you! My Dh's cousin and wife smoke IN thier house with thier 3 kids. One is 7, one is 2 years old, and the other is 4 months! She smoked during her pregnancy, but I dind't know because we don't visit often, but moved around the block from them and so when we first went to visit I was in shock! The whole house smelled! We don't visit anymore and it is sad because we live so close and we both have small kids.

I just have no patience for people who smoke around children. I have asthma thanks to my parents smoking in the house when I was a small child. Thankfully they do not smoke anymore and have not for years, but I'll be damned if someone is going to smoke near my child. It's like, would you give someone's child alcohol? No? Then why is it ok to smoke near them?
