i need help understanding how
health insurance works..i keep getting bills from my dr.s office for $400..i thought that if that dr. accepts your ins., that they accept what your ins. covers...i understand that there is a co-pay but why am i getting bills? plus the fact that i know some dr.s def make up prices which is making me more upset...please help me before i call looking like an idiot...thanks

are you sure its a bill? sometimes the place that does my lab work will send me a note saying
"your lab work cost $175- pleae understand that if your insurance company does not pay this, we will seek reimbursement from you" or something like that
also, if it is indeed a bill, tell your HR person! you should not be getting billed- unless there is a problem with the insurance or if you are doing something that is not covered by the insurance.

Its all very tricky. Depending on what they charged you, sometimes your insurance will only cover a certain amount of the cost OR if its a procedure done more than once, your insurance will only cover the first time.
Ex - I have to have an ACI blood test to track my diabetes every 3 months. My health insurance only covers it once a year.

do you think i should call the dr.'s office just to make sure? i hate doing this..but i guess it doesnt hurt to call. thanks
