my sil is pregnant with twins and just went to doc yesterday and they told her she is on strict bedrest..she feels fine and she is devastated and doesnt understand..they said the little girl is significantly smaller than the boy. today she is 20 weeks and the Chat Icon is 9oz and BOY is 11oz..does anyone know if this is normal? i feel like they are taking precautions and just making her nervous..anyway do you girls have any ideas on what i can do for her?this is my last day of work and i can totally just hang out with her and be pregnant together..but should i cook her and her hubby food or something..? she literally cant leave her bed..i want to do something..i feel helpless and guilty that she has such a rough time with her pregnancy..any suggestions?THANKS ALL SO MUCH!!Chat Icon

Re: i need help...

i think making her food, or bring her some magazines or books to keep her occupied. Poor thing, how long does does she have to be on bedrest?

they told her no more work(teacher) for the rest of the year. but she told them she felt fine she didnt understand why..but they said wait 2 weeks until you come back and see how everything is..so we'll see after two weeks..they told her she can only shower for 5 min everyother day..so it sounds serious..and the specialist is being so rude about it..Chat Icon

Re: i need help...

I think they call that "gestational or justational" as in "gestational/justational twins".
I believe (don't quote me) but it's when one is taking most of the food and the smaller isn't being nourished enough.
They probably have her on bed rest because they will develop faster/better when your on bed rest. I'm sure they just want to watch her to make sure they even out or the smaller (probably Baby B) gains some weight. If he doesn't they may take them early. Sometimes the umbilical cord can detach from the placenta but if they thought that were the case they would have done a sonogram right away to see.

I'm sure everything fine and the baby will gain weight while mom's on bed rest. Chat Icon
