I need decorating HELP. Please HELP!
Hi Everyone,
Please help me. I am in SUCH need of decorating advice. I'm going to attach pictures of my bedroom. The photos were taken before we bought the house. I want you to see the wall-papered wall. We're keeping that wall paper, but our bed is going on that wall, along with our end tables.
We just ordered a new furniture set. I'm going to attach that photo, too.
I need help with picking out a new wall color. I want the room to look very glam. But, since I'm keeping that wallpaper, my color choices are going to be limited. The colors in the wall paper are light tans with a touch of olive green.
What color would you paint the rest of the walls? And, they have to be painted because we just patched a bunch of stucco cracks. Image Attachment(s):

Its tough with that wallpaper.
You are going to be very limited.
IMHO, I would take it down, but since you said you were keeping it, what about a very light beige?
I would say a tan but with your furniture, that may just be too much brown.
Good Luck!

I know my color is off on my computer so I may be way off base but I would do a bright slate gray.

Re: I need decorating HELP. Please HELP!
if it were my bedroom, i would remove the wallpaper and start with a blank slate. this way your color options are endless. if you are really against removing the wallpaper and glam is the look that you want to achieve, i would paint the room black. yes, black. accessorize with glass/crystal lamps and chandelier. if black is too dramatic for you then i would opt for a charcoal gray.
do you have pics of the bedding?

I know. The wall paper is covering a panel that was place over the stucco. We took down two similar panels in our spare room and it became a *MAJOR* project. But, the wall paper does look better in person. It's minimized because we have our bed and end tables against that wall. So, you can only really see the top of it.
I'm thinking about a golden mustard kind of color...
This is such a PIA.

can't you just paint over the wallpaper? another option is to add beadboard.

Check out Camacho's ablum. I know this is a BM color and I think it's called Nantucket Fog. It's a gray/green color. This might work for you since you said there is green in the wall paper. HTH!

This is beadboard.
Can you paint over the wallpaper? I know you said it is a big job to remove it but now is the time to do it before you have all your stuff in the house.
If you are going to keep the wallpaper I would do a very neutral color. Something like Benjamin Moore China White, a white that picks up a greyish tone. I think painting the room a color would be a mistake because the room will feel so small with the wallpaper and the dark wood bedding set you have. A neutral color will also be good for you since you like to change the bedding.
Good luck

Re: I need decorating HELP. Please HELP!
i sense that people are not liking the wall paper. me, on the other hand, i wouldn't hide it. i don't think it's bad at all... in fact, i'd put the furniture on the opposite wall, but that's just me. i think that Jenn's suggestion of camacho's color is dead on. it will blend perfect and probably even "tame down" the wallpaper, if that's what you want to do.
i would also stay away from "loud" bedding. i would do a simple color, probably a beige or better.. a white.
i think you need to let that wallpaper wall be the attention getter / only "busy" thing in the room.
just my opinion. i hope you post pics!!!

ditto - especially if you're going for a glam look.

do you own these sets or interested in purchasing? if you do not yet own, i would opt for something more neutral (either solid or solid w/ a band of color).

Re: I need decorating HELP. Please HELP!
Thanks for your help girls. Yes, I do own those bedding sets already.
I think Jen's color suggestion will work out the best (thank you Jen).
It's just too much work to take down that paper, plus the panel, and then redo the stucco underneath. I already know it will have tons of cracks from the nails that were used to put up the panel. And, I don't have the energy to do all that over again. We just finished the OTHER room and that was a huge job and a huge mess.
Plus, the paper is pretty decent in person. I was surprised that people were complimenting it when they came to see the house because I honestly wasn't a huge fan of it myself. But, we do have our bed and end tables against that wall, so you don't realy see that much of it. And, it's the wall that has the door, so unless you're standing inside the room, facing the door, you don't even see it.
Thanks for all of your input!
