I need advice!
We just bought our house less than a month ago and about a week later we got a water bill for $34.
$10 is ours for switching the account, but the $24 is from the prior owner. I paid the $10 and had our name taken off the tax lien list if it wasnt paid on time cuz its not our bill...and i was told that the prior owners were sent the bill for the $24.
I just called the WD again and the bill was not paid..
What do i do? I know its a minimal amount but its not our bill?? Do I just pay it?

What happens if you don't pay it? Isn't it their bill in their name? How does that affect you?

We got a water bill for $207  and $129 of it was the previous owner's. I contacted our lawyer who took what she owed out of escrow to pay her portion. You may want to try that.

it came in our name, and i was told by the water district that if its not paid you will be put on a tax lien. I explained the situation, so they said they would take my name off.
Guess I can contact our lawyer..

we had $10 left over that we just paid. our lawyer kept money in escrow for it, but it just seemed too silly to bother for $10

Even though its only $24, I would still call your lawyer. Maybe you should pay it and get reimbursed for it.

It it was for a large amount, I would have my lawyer speak to their lawyer. Being that it's only for $24, I would pay it. Not worth the aggravation.
